was two-fold: that it inhibits creativity, and what adult ever diagrams anything?

Guess no one ever spoke to a programming language or compiler writer.

when I was in school, and sure, I groused about "predicate nouniciples" and in general didn't see much use for sentence diagramming. Perhaps despite that experience, I fell truly, madly, deeply in love with the English language, which is why I take it personally when hearing innumerable offenses against English, e.g. "There's three people here" and "You gave it away? To who?"

Computer languages have come a long way since I took PL/I my freshman year of college. They've been my bread and butter for a long time, but how I'd love to spend time on my favorite language, music.

I suspect some of the programmers I've worked with over the years don't diagram much of anything.  I've had to fix some of their code.  Believe me, it's not pretty.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.
