IDF's being allowed to continue operations.

I think there is a whole lot of strange reporting going on these days.

Even the title of this diary

Netanyahu announces 12-hour ceasefire for Saturday; Hamas agrees
as I understand it the parties agreed and then the UN and several countries foreign ministers announced it - NOT Netanyahu.

The world is bad enough as it is, you have no right to make it any worse.
Lamb chop, we can quibble what to call it, but I think we can both agree it's creepy.

A spokesman for Hamas, the Islamist group that controls Gaza, Sami Abu Zuhri said there was "national consensus on a humanitarian truce... for 12 hours on Saturday".

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) later confirmed the truce on Twitter, but said it would "continue to locate and neutralise terror tunnels".

"We will respond if terrorists choose to exploit this time to attack IDF personnel or fire at Israeli civilians," it said in a statement.

The IDF's "continue to locate and neutralise terror tunnels" is not part of the truce.

The IDF seems to have unilaterally added it so there very well might not be a truce.

Then there may be allegations that 'Hamas didn't observe the truce' when the reality may be that IDF added a condition unilaterally and continued operations after the truce began and Hamas responded.

    •  I'm only reporting what the article said. (1+ / 0-)

It attributes the statement that Netanyahu made the announcement to 'a spokesman for the US government ... in Cairo'.  You may well be right about the actual course of events; I've been away for several hours and haven't had a chance to look at more recent or more extensive reports.

      •  You can revise the title. n/t (1+ / 0-)
