  •  Why 3 months? (4+ / 0-)
The disease may spread for another three months, according to the World Health Organization.
What's going to stop it? You've got to isolate the infected - and that's clearly not happening.

    •  HoundDog explained this to me -- that they (3+ / 0-)

take the time it takes people to develop symptoms, add the time it takes them to recover or die, and then double the total, to see that the transmission chain was broken.

But, you're right -- right now the chain of transmission is not close to broken.

    •  Math stuff. (0+ / 0-)

Just like how we can spin satellites around planets to launch them faster into the path of an asteroid, we can figure out how epidemics will play out.

You should look into epidemiology, it's actually extremely interesting stuff. Remember, people have devoted their lives to studying these things.

No light, no dark, no up, no down. No life. No time. Without end. My people called it The Void. The Eternals called it The Howling. But some people call it The Tea Party.

only applies once it is contained - which it clearly isn't. If you've read Hound Dog's prior diaries on this, Ebola is now present multiple large cities and countless small villages that are among the poorest in the world. Containment at this point seems to be a fantasy.

For now, the only math that applies is how far will it spread.
