The diary does not say she is being diagnosed by a chiropractor

When she needed gallbladder surgery, her employers were less than understanding.
I go to a doctor and also a chiropractor

And you do not think anyone in California could fall thru the huge holes in the social safety net of America ? Let me tell you 1st hand , it happens all the time

You find the diary hard to believe ? Here is what I do not find hard to believe , the fact that most Americans have no idea there is no safety net

The diary is not as organized and informative as it might be, but it seems the potential for disability is due to the chiropractor treated issues of neck and/or back. One would hope that more than a chiro have diagnosed and treated that condition.

Gallbladder would not be an issue on that front, but seems to have contributed to the termination of employment. Again, not much info to go on - how long was recovery, how often was she absent from work for medical issues prior to that surgery, etc.

I haven't done this before and am not skilled at it,

I will set an arbitrary goal of $1000.

For me, however, the glaring omission here is "what's the plan?"
The plan is to try and raise $1000 so she is not homeless in Aug.

You did a fine job for your initial diary on the subject psyche , thank you

I don't have all those details. Those details are information the casino would look at and they have already made an evaluation. If they were sensible people they would realize they should keep an outstanding employee like her and soften their rigid rules about absences. She had doctors' verifications about the reasons for absences.

I am not in the role of an interrogator or a medical evaluator. What I have is the overview: she would really like to work at the casino, where she was making very good money, but her medical problems kept her out more than the casino would accept, and they fired her. She worked there about 10 years and now she has gone through her savings and simply has almost zero money except for a few small gifts from friends that were spent quickly for food, gas, etc.

After the gallbladder thing she had a lot of problems that seem to have been exacerbated by prescribed drugs that were supposed to help but made matters worse. This worked into depression and even suicidal thoughts.

But there is lots of info and contacts here

I have been going thru the same thing as your friend , being disabled and facing homelessness does bring on suicidal thoughts , the feelings of helplessness can be over whelming ,  just one person stepping forward can bring a ray of hope and change all that tho
