  •  The Country Had a Lethal Enemy Then That Ran (10+ / 0-)

an anti-capitalist economy that appealed to the masses. We had to remain strong against them in potential war to protect owners' investments and enterprises, and we had to show our masses that we offered them a better deal than the enemy's system which prevented evil rich owners from taking everything from the people. So we altered our system in ways that made our owners share much more of the country with the people than owners normally do. --And normally did for all our prior history.

Once that enemy was gone, owners' enterprises and investments weren't at risk from war, and there was nobody tempting the people with a different deal than whatever our owners would offer, so the owners felt safe taking their country back from the people and sharing far less of it with the people.

Owners don't need a democratic government to accomplish these things for them, in fact, the less a government does, the more the owners benefit.

    And so here we are.

We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for victims of our nation and for those it calls enemy.... --ML King "Beyond Vietnam"

My problem is I am not an owner. The hell with health care, voting rights, gay rights, fair wages, fixing highways,
      clean air, clean water!
Sorry I took so long to thank you for your wisdom,
