  •  He's in free-fall. (5+ / 0-)

He leapt off the cliff, his reelection chances going with him. And now he's grasping at anything and everything on the way down, trying to stop the fall.

    •  and he's running against a smart person (2+ / 0-)

when they are wounded, cornered, and have nothing to lose. Corbett's crony pack are frothing like rabid dogs to destroy the unions, the schools, and our state before they get booted.

I'm sorry to insult to the poor diseased canines, they can't help themselves when they are infected.  Unlike the PA GOP.

has Corbett on their personal "pay no mind" list. His method of "bargaining" with his fellow party members for placing the pension "reform" bill into a committee chaired by a moderate Republican was to veto several hundred million dollars of Republican negotiated spending in the state budget and demand they return to Harrisburg to vote on a pension bill that both destroys pensions and does nothing to help local taxpayers.

        Good luck with that.

... is done in a tuxedo with rediculously long tails.
The GOP gerrymander after the 2010 elections has left PA with a 13-5 GOP margin in the US House along with 27-23 and 111-92 margins in the state Senate and House respectively.  Dem's need to win those legislative bodies back, (then hold them and implement a fair redistricting after the 2020 census).

      •  If by 'fair' you mean 'lock in the house'. (0+ / 0-)

Time to stop playing nice. Lock it in. Gerrymander to hell and back, make their party suffer for the shit it's done.

There are too many unnaturally uncompetative districts whose representatives are effectively elected by winning their primaries.  That leads to candidates who are beholden to their respective bases, needing only to worry about a challenge from a more 'purist' candidate.
After the elections we still need to have a funtioning democracy, which inevitably means some comprimise.

With a fair playing field, democrats win, (and not many tea party Republicans will prevail in R+3 districts).

        •  A "fair" map is D favorable anyway (3+ / 0-)

We have a 4:3 registration advantage over Republicans. A map with a fair drawing of lines should create a similar advantage.

        1) There aren't many seats the Dems need to pick up in the PA Senate in order to win that chamber, (+2 if Wolf wins) and a few more (+10) in the PA House to do the same.

        2) There might not be enough D candidates of quality to actually accomplish this even with a historically large Wolf win.

The PA Senate has more than a few moderate Republican wheeler / dealer types with whom Wolf can work, so I think winning the PA House would be the best. I'm hoping we can get Wolf +5 or +6 here in the Philly burbs and see if the rest of the state can pull their own weight.

In any case Wolf being governor for two terms is a MUST if we want to create a fair district map for 2020.
