What can he say? It's one thing people take sides and critique every possible sentence, every word, every inflection, every nuance. It's easy for us to do. Try governing 330 million people, you represent only 1/3 of the government, you have constituents on the right, in the center and on the left, and everyone of those constituents think they're 100% right 100% of the time.

It's not like when he entered the White House the country was not free-falling into a worse depression than the 1929 crash, that he did not inherit 2 wars, that women had any legal law like Lilly Ledbetter that strived for their equality in the workplace, that 50 million Americans did not have health insurance, that gays were not accepted in the military or that anywhere in the country they did not have marriage equality.

Damn, there are times I think many on this website actually gave Sarah Palin the idea to impeach Obama. What did he do, tell Netanyahu he better go into Gaza and kill a few civilians there because he and Bibi are best buds? Netanyahu does shit on his own regardless of what anyone, including in his own country says or does. I think it's pretty damn clear he and Obama do not like each other at all. So what does he say or do? Risk alienating the overwhelming majority of the country outside the web pages of Daily Kos because a majority of the country supports Israel against Hamas? Tell Israel he's cutting off money to them, sorry, he doesn't have that much authority since Congress has a say in that. Oh yeah, he can tell then force Congress to do anything he tells them to. Try telling that to John Boehner or all the Jewish, Democratic Senators in the halls of Congress. I'm sorry, I know this issue instills great passion here but at some point we all have to take a step back from our own biases or anxieties about any issue and try to understand all aspects of the issues. One aspect is Obama, Putin or the ghost of Tiny Tim do not influence Bibi not matter what is said to the public. That Obama speech was just political window dressing. Regardless of what is said in front of the cameras for public consumption, it does not mean a damn thing when Kerry goes behind closed doors with both combatants.

to be president we rightfully laughed at him. Obama hasn't made that same statement and it does him a disservice when folks like you use it as an excuse for his actions.

As for what he can say, or do. There is a lot. He's already stood up to Israel in the past on a number of issues, I hope he continues to do so.

are so many excellent points by many of the passionate who are far more intelligent than I am. However, all I read all the time in various medium is whose fault and whose to blame. Very few solutions since no one is willing to bend 1 inch. Unless Israel gives up and ceases to exist or Hamas pledges never to wage jihad and do violence on Israel, please if you have the answer to end this tragedy, I'm all ears. Israel is not going to give up. It doesn't look like Hamas is going to either. We can all obsessively go on and write outstanding, meaningful texts, Obama can make speeches until he's blue in the face, bottom line, I think the anger and the emotion emitted from the words of this website is more about the frustration and exhaustion we have over I/P which is why everyone writes of blame rather than solutions.

are in my opinion at least partially responsible for shifting the debate to where it is today. I don't expect much more from him in this conflict, primarily because even with the current shift in attitudes there is overwhelming support for Israel in the US. In the under 30 demographic a majority don't think Israel is justified in its actions, so there is hope for the future.
