    By making the Rs deal with the whole package rather than letting them cherry pick the few issues that they hope will please their own personal extremists in the primaries due in a week or two or three,  the Rs are discouraged from such cherry picking. You fight evil in some versions by making it too expensive to be worth it for evil people.

     Besides, I'm not sure there is anything I like about the short "Deport the Short" bill, anyway, and I am more troubled about the possibility that at least some of the deport the kiddies stuff will stay in if the mess passes in any form.

      But I think that's not the way the media - especially the Beltway mainstream media - will play this.

      Normally, I wouldn't care, but this is within 100 days of a national election. And I'd like to try to have the media spin a few things our way for a change.
