    ...won't gerrymander.

Democrats get gerrymandered, but we won't stoop to doing it ourselves.

So we lose, lose, lose, lose, lose.

Apparently the Illinois Dems have a little more skill or experience at it than the various Democratic parties of New York.

Americans can make our country better.

The median legislature district is more Republican than the state as a whole, and the median house district is the same. So Illinois Democrats just undo the natural gerryamnders from having areas of Chicago 80% Democratic while the suburbs are 55% Republican. They don't actually have a real Democratic gerrymander.

    •  The two houses control their own redistricting. (0+ / 0-)

The state Assembly is gerrymandered in favor of the Democrats while the state Senate is gerrymandered in favor of the Republicans. That way the Assembly represents the interests of New York City while the Senate represents the interests of upstate. And by upstate is meant places north of Westchester county.

There ARE those who would point to MAryland and argue that point with you.

Still, one state against thirty some odd states is a huge difference.

Yeah, gerrymandering is mostly a Republican thing.

We need control in state houses in 2020 so we can UN-gerrymander what has been gerrymandered.

Look to Pennsylvania, my current home.

52% of voters in statewide races voted for a Democrat for Congress.  Yet, we went 13 R's and only FIVE D's to the 113th!!  How is that not gerrymandering to the max?
