  •  Maybe people should read latest poll (0+ / 0-)

This immigration issue is a total loser for Democrats and will cost the Senate in November.

As for Latino voters no one has yet to explain how Rick Scott has their support in that election????

    •  In all honesty, Hockeyray, (5+ / 0-)

I didn't click on your poll results. However, I'm keen to admit that we, democrats and progressives, are sometimes late getting out of the gate: the republicans immediately gin up the outrage and initially control the narrative.  However, we are talking about children here and I still believe that decency will prevail.

      •  Decency will prevail. (4+ / 0-)

I remember when certain Blue Dogs werre telling us to "drop the amnesty talk" in 2006 & 2007 because we were "scaring away white voters". Remember how that turned out in 2008?

      •  The Democratic Party (0+ / 0-)

Needs to support the working class people who work hard and play by the rules.  When they favor people who made illegal border crossing over the working people then we should vote for the Republicans.

If Obama grants blanket Amnesty you can count on me to support impeachment.

This whole issue is about enforcing the laws.  We need no reforms, no "Guest" workers period.

        •  Well, it's clear then (5+ / 0-)

that you are far to the right of 99.9% of the people here, and I think it's important to take that into account when you announce this issue is a "total loser' for Democrats. You want them to be Republicans. and that has never worked out for them

The working class people...all of the people...at least in some states.. Immigration reform is something republicans will not touch with a 10-foot pole. They love cheap (slave) labor so it's no surprise the only thing they give to folks like you is dishonest, degrading trash talk,...which seems to be quite acceptable. I guess it's true that some people really need a dog to kick. Love the impeachment talk though..please..keep it up!

thinking the US "need no reforms, no "Guest" workers period." is NONSENSE.

In 2012 American farmers saw exactly what these "get rid of those undocumented people, we don't need them taking American jobs!" ideology looks like in action.

“The enforcement of immigration policy has devastated the skilled-labor source that we’ve depended on for 20 or 30 years,” said Ralph Broetje during a recent teleconference organized by the National Immigration Forum, adding that last year Washington farmers — part of an $8 billion agriculture industry — were forced to leave 10% of their crops rotting on vines and trees. “It’s getting worse each year,” says Broetje, “and it’s going to end up putting some growers out of business if Congress doesn’t step up and do immigration reform.”
          AND
Roughly 70% of the 1.2 million people employed by the agriculture industry are undocumented. No U.S. industry is more dependent on undocumented immigrants. But acute labor shortages brought on by anti-immigration measures threaten to heap record losses on an industry emerging from years of stiff foreign competition. Nationwide, labor shortages will result in losses of up to $9 billion, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
You like fresh fruits and veggies? THANK an immigrant who works in the heat of southern summer weather to harvest it for you.

And climb down off of your "This is OUR land" pulpit, because unless YOUR FAMILY is Native American, you're the same as all the rest of us IMMIGRANTS.

these are NOT "illegals". They are refugees and as such come under international law. But don't let facts get in the way of your xenophobia. You should probably seek out a therapist though.

The results of the questions are extremely cloudy. I don't see where you draw the conclusion that this issue is a "total loser" for Democrats.  Someone is always telling  us that everything we do is a "total loser" for us, yet letting clowns like Gohmert run lose has no consequences? I'll pass on that theory.

any such assertions you make with a lot of grains of salt. You did, after all, claim in a 2012 diary that things like abortion and birth control were such "loser issues" for Democrats that year. Of course, the results of several Senate elections proved you dead wrong then. Why should we listen to you this time, given your piss-poor political prognosticating in previous periods?

I also note the recent slew of HRs you've racked up... my, my, quite busy...

    •  Baloney. The IMPORTANT question on that poll? (5+ / 0-)

      Page four, NCC8:

Do you favor or oppose providing a legal way for illegal immigrants already in the United States to become U.S. citizens?

      Total Favor 51
      Strongly favor 18
      Somewhat favor 34
      Total Oppose 46
      Somewhat oppose 21
      Strongly oppose 25
      Refused/Not answered 3
      Based on: N=1,044 N=1,354 N=1,012 N=1,060 N=1,367 N=1,227

That's a FIVE POINT GAP, and anyone who know politics knows that Five Percent is enough to win anything.

So, you've gotten the WRONG impression from that poll you cite.

It's BAD NEWS for the damned Republicans.
