  •  ER's are dangerous places for Transgender (4+ / 0-)

patients. I've learned it is best to avoid them.

In addition since people with EDS react atypically to pain the ER is useless to me unless I'm literally life threatened.

    But wait there's more,

They just think I'm crazy, thanks to a bigot doctor and my hyper Czech girlfriend at the time when I first started having seizures. The ER Dr. Must have flagged my chart because I'm treated like shit even worse than before then.

      ER Buddy. That just sucks!

You should ask to get copy of your records, you can dispute that shit. I have had similar problems with doctors who don't understand PTSD.

Some professionals they are. Not even interested in learning about the condition, when it's just so much easier to stigmatize people and treat them like shit.

      You have my sympathies dear.

      •  Who do I ask for my records? (7+ / 0-)

        I can't find a doctor :(.

        Single Payer PLEASE!

This is ridiculous. The state/Feds are paying out for my health care. But what happens is not only do the profiteers get their cut by being HMO's. (Medicaid is already set up to do their job, and does it for patients HMO's can't or won't take)The medical centers are using indentured servants, indentured via student loans and have to take insane case loads in order to not be in debt for life. And most of the MD's they do have actually never see patients as they have stables of PA's and RN's with the Medical Association's stamp of approval. Again a middle man is getting his cut in the form of the medical office running these structures.

And don't get me started on the misogynistic, sexist, classist attitudes instilled in these doctors during their training.

We have tricare, which is treated just a little better than Medicaid. I love it, all those flag waiving bumper sticker patriots, who won't take military health insurance.

          Fan-fucking-tastic.

And I know all too well, about the major malfunctions to be found in the medical culture concerning women, along with classism, ageism, and everything else.

So when I say you have my sympathies--it's from someone who had to have a buddy to go to the ER or any doctor, for years after I got out the service, because the issues I had, and the issues they had, made communication damn near impossible, and the likelihood of me being re-traumatized all but predictable.
