Nothing, really.  He's really just a generic D.  Whenever we have the chance to actually elect a exciting progressive to a seat and keep that seat, I don't feel bad supporting that person over the generic incumbent.  Tlaib fights her ass off, and thus deserved the win.

BTW, the race has been called with 100% in, 47% Tlaib vs. 44% Virgil Smith.

    •  If I am Congressman Conyers (0+ / 0-)

I would watch out for her. He may be next.

      •  Conyers is no generic incumbent. (0+ / 0-)

If I were Tlaib, I would wait for him to retire.

She can be abrasive, sometime, and sometime even too abrasive for me.  But, I realize that we need these types in the party just like we need moderates out in the exurban and rural areas.  What I appreciate about Tlaib is her tenacity and her fearlessness.  She is the Michigan honey badger.  It was because of her that we got those Koch coke ash off the Detroit River.  She raised holy hell and got the job done, and that was with a Republican governor, no less.
