Beautiful photos. Wish I was there.

Overcast. Will probably mow before it gets any hotter. Too much copperhead habitat for my taste right now. Snake dog needs a respite.

The big news concerns animal abuse/cruelty by a neighbor. I don't know how a person becomes this evil and twisted but his trial is Monday and I'm hoping he is going away. Please sign and pass on. Twitter has been lighting up with it, as has FB.

As a group who cares about the environment and works to keep it stable, it's hard to wrap our heads around the cruelty that unfortunately seems to be everywhere. From the person who deliberately runs over a terrapin on the road, to the person who burns empty houses down and now this cretin..it's hard for us to understand. In fact, we will probably never understand. All we can do is keep stepping up and try to protect our earth and it's inhabitants.

There is a black-mouthed mountain cur cow dog here and a companion. Why do people own dogs if they are only going to dump them to die? The yellow male's ribs and hip bones show. I've put some weight on him but not nearly enough. He won't eat if I am outdoors. I can't afford two more dogs and since I can't catch him, I don't know what to do. This is one more example of "what's gone wrong with people?". I know I'll never be able to catch him to take him to the no-kill shelter.

We were put here as stewards, what the hell has gone wrong?

Trees are growing so fast this year in the yard. I need to find someone to come in and trim but the budget doesn't allow for it. We've had enough rain to really turn everything green. My roof still leaks so I am ambivalent (sorta) about rainfall.

Hummingbirds are very active. The chickie-girls are huge. I have to trim their wings as they have begun flying over their fence into the main yard. Mimosas and crepe-myrtles are covered with blooms. Huge moths are feasting on the mimosa blooms. I can't see well enough to offer any identifying clues.

I must go feed the strays and clean up the garbage they 'accidentally' found.

Have a great weekend, friends. P
