Senators voted against the report in 2012 and voted against making it public in 2014?

Where are their names? Are they up for reelection?

and let it all go blurry. That's the point.

I'm not convinced Feinstein wants it all in the open before November. Her letter emphasize her desire to spend as much time as it takes to get the job done thoroughly. That's usually DC-speak for "I want this issue submerged, at least till after the next election".

      •  That's not a strategy that helps Democrats. (2+ / 0-)

It makes no sense to me. With the amount of time that already elapsed since the events that were studied, a few more months doesn't add enough distance to make the report easier to digest.

Instead, it creates the possibility that the report will never be released if the Republicans win control of the Senate and the chair goes to one who voted against releasing the report.

      •  Isn't that what happened to the Abramoff scandals? (0+ / 0-)

McCain struck some deal with Dems that ended up keeping 95% of the documentation locked away from review by the greater House and Senate, and away from public scrutiny?
