  •  I was a sergeant in the USAF in Washington.... (6+ / 0-)

....I was a clerk at Bolling AFB in those daze, during the Watergate frenzy, I would bring my stereo and speakers while performing extra duty running payroll in the computer room at night and we'd listen to the "Watergate Comedy Hour" on WHFS-FM in Bethesda, MD....

The Air Force would give you the base of your choice if you re-enlisted in those daze, I was fanatically into dirt bikes, and performing Hajj as a dirt biker meant Southern California Desert, so I tole em I wanted to goto Edwards....

Fortunately they had all the Finance Clerks they needed at Edwards, but they DID have an opening for a Finance Clerk at George AFB (where?) in Victorville CA, so I signed ze papers and off to California we went....

My last day at Bolling, which meant dropping by the office, picking up the check and the bundle of records and then blast off, and while I'm doing all that and the family are out in the car waiting, the news comes over the radio, "say GOODBYE DICK!"....

    And we drove off....
