  •  An awesome Grand Slam yes - but not a walk off ;) (3+ / 0-)

JRW was the 'away' team so they batted in the top of the inning.  Impossible for a walk off win. (A walk off home run occurs in the bottom of an inning when a player on the home team homers to end the game.)

The slammer pulled JRW from behind in the top of the 5th - they  went ahead 10 to 7. I believe the JRW pitcher struck out the side in the bottom of the 5th, and JRW added 2 runs in the top of the 6th.  They closed it out by holding Indiana scoreless in the bottom of the sixth.  (They only play 6 innings, not 9, at this age level.)

So yes - a very exciting and uplifting come from behind win for JR West (unless you are from Indiana) - but no walk offs in this one.

Best of luck to the South Side Kids in Williamsport next week. I will be pulling for them to do their best - it will be the experience of a lifetime I am sure.

    Cheers

    •  :-o Well razzlefratz! I totally misinterpreted (0+ / 0-)

a local Chicagoland news report (video showed the HR and then immediately cut to the celebratory end of game pile-on). Talk about shooting from the hip and hitting my own foot. Worse, I do indeed know what a walk-off is, which is what makes this so bleeping embarrassing. Thank you so much for cleaning up my oops, Tommymac!!!

Do not grasp. Let go of what is to make space for what is to be.
