    Vice-Admiral Grace Hopper for a computer programmer then? She was one of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer, and wrote the first compiler language.

      One thing that continues to piss me off is how, even with the horrible sexist society women lived in for most of Euro-American history, the standard histories taught in schools actually erase women who were hugely influential.

      It's like, it's bad enough that life really was so awful for so many women (and worse for women of color), but then what we are all taught manages to make the past seem even MORE of a pale male-fest than it actually was (while ignoring how much women were oppressed and brutalized).
