If you peruse McCain's war record, you'd realize he wasn't a hero.  He destroyed 5 planes, got captured, spilled military secrets immediately, stayed at a POW camp fit for an Admiral's son/grandson.  Getting captured does not make you a hero--just proves you were there--which is better than most other R war hawks.  A very low standard.

He has become the face of the war--proud to be in, what might be described, as the stupidest American incursion before W Bush.

Am curious as to what you have heard the Vietnamese say about the former POW. I'm always amazed that they swam out and rescued his broken, drowning ass and got him to medical personnel rather than letting him die. He and his cohorts had been mercilessly killing the citizens of Haiphong and Hanoi with round the clock bombing for years before his plane was shot down so one would think those "gooks" who had no respect for human life would have celebrated his death rather than saved his life. I say this as someone who was raining death and destruction from the air on the southern part of that poor country as McCain and his fellow aviators were doing the same in the north.

Are you suggesting, McCain's CO notified the Viet Cong that the admirals son needed assistance--that he was the pilot of the plane they just shot down?  Have I not been cynical enough?
