45 Republicans in the US Senate.  8 of them sit on the Foreign Relations Committee.  They all have equal voting power.  Like every US Senator, they also are assumed to represent their state - so in addition to Arizona, looking just at the committee, we could get the input of Tennessee, Idaho, Florida, Wisconsin, (also Arizona with Flake), Wyoming or Kentucky.

There are currently over 200 Republican representatives in the US House.  By my quick count, 25 of them sit on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, including the Republican Chairman, Edward Royce.

I find it impossible to believe that the Sunday news shows have such a difficult time finding politicians to go on nationally broadcast programs to promote themselves.  They are, after all, politicians.

I would also push back against Candy's contention that McCain answers questions.  Sure, his lips move and words come out, but how often does he give the straight talk express, and how often is he just pushing talking points?  I don't think the balance is that great in straight talk's favor.

they open their mouths and words come out but it's all just pre-rehearsed talking point crap

... between answering a question and merely responding to it.  McCain responds to whatever the interviewer may ask with one of a handful of talking points.  If you watch clips of him on several shows from the same week, he'll use the exact same combinations of words and phrases to express a given idea, each and every time (just like Frank Luntz wrote it ...)  He used that "Russia is Europe's gas station" gag on at least half a dozen shows a couple weeks back.

OF COURSE the New Right is wrong - but that doesn't make WRONG the new RIGHT!

        •  they all share talking points with each other (0+ / 0-)

if you listen to other R talking heads they use the same phrases

no matter what the question is they pivot directly to the talking points
