He will put no restriction on local municipalities to pay for equipment.  He might cut their federal dollars, but they'll probably just convince voters to maintain funding, or they'll cut services to maintain security.

He will put no restrictions on corporations from doing business with police departments.

So, we'll still have a  Military Industrial Complex that needs a secondary market.  The police departments are not going to change their purchasing practices.  They are going to continue to purchase the most "effective" equipment, because why the fuck would they buy less effective equipment when the company has such great riot and tactical gear?

It is truly a new religion.  I like the name that it got upthread.

    It is "Latter Day Libertarianism."

As far as I'm concerned, Latter Day Libertarianism is morally bankrupt, but it relies on that bankruptcy to inform its dogma.

It's not that far off from Satanism

He represents pride, liberty, and individualism—qualities often defined as Evil by those who worship external deities, who feel there is a war between their minds and emotions.

    •  Cutting federal dollars is not a bad start. (1+ / 0-)

Remember: the local government has to go to the local citizens and raise their property taxes to get more money.

That's a way to lose local elections.

I'll believe it when I see it.  Cut the federal dollars.

Do we seriously think that something like that would make it through a congress that has no restrictions on corporate donations?

Even if he were able to end it, I don't see how you could convince local municipalities that they will get by perfectly fine without the money.  They'll just cut services and then justify it by pointing to the arrests they made of the people who used the services.

          Congress is the eeevil gubmint.

          Not that you're wrong...

and I think this is the thing that could help the man if were politically savvy the way Bill Clinton was.  He hits a number of themes that sit well with non-crazy folks.
