If the media hadn't been shining sunlight on Ferguson's protests, this would still be ongoing, as it is throughout the country in other places where kids are gunned down by rogue police.

And these places are now too many to list. I just tried and failed.

I will not celebrate the demilitarization of one cities' police force, which should never have been militarized in the first place, with such massive media pressure on it, when in so many other areas exactly the same thing continues.

I am glad, however, that people rose up to speak their discontent. We need much, much more of that to end what is essentially a ground-war between a police force that no longer understands its job as peace officers sworn to bring criminals before a judge or jury and, apparently, unarmed children who just happen to be brown in most cases.

personally, i believe in celebrating any victory, however small. any small amount of progress is progress, and worth acknowledging.

but yeah, there is much to be done.

A black teen supposedly shot himself in the back seat of a Durham, NC patrol car.  In the head. While wearing handcuffs.  Behind his back.

Or so the official story went.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.
