is that the "danger" of the job is constantly and even as we speak being used as a defense of the actions police take, such as shooting unarmed black men on what seems like a weekly basis. The other professions you mentioned don't, in return for doing a dangerous job, get nearly unlimited power over the civilian population, and they are the ONLY one who is authorized to use lethal force in their profession. And no matter how egregious or suspect the use of deadly force is, they rarely, if ever, pay a price for it. I'm tired as it being used as a blanket shield from accountability whenever another unarmed minority is shot down in the streets.

America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable.

By rightwingers who despise government anyhow.

Rightwingers only tolerate these select employees on government payroll because they think police protect them from scary brown and black people .

So you're accepting the excuses of people who hate government why some employees are ok?

Stop and think about that. Why would you accept their framing? They're selfish. Many ( like the pundits) are psychopaths.

All they're trying to do is justify being inconsistent to their friends and justify that they're not complete idiots to all reasonable people who understand community police service is a worthwhile idea.

I'm asking you honestly, Why do you care what these far rightwingers  think? People like this aren't people we can influence enough to see the light, much less vote in a rational way .

Why not just ignore their excuses and save yourself the aggravation?

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

        Bratton ...

Like Mayor DeBlasio also of NYC, and supposedly a 'progressive' ...  nearly every District Attorney's office ...  and all the higher-ups of every police 'union' and benevolent association there is ???

Not to mention most local mayors and  newspapers nearly all of the time ...

Here's the situation: Heroic.  Cops . Can. Do. No. Wrong. EVER !!!   (because they have such a dangerous job, donchaknow,  and 'where would we all be without them?'  ).

Because of this, municipalities simply pay insurance companies to settle an 'average' incidence of excessive force, wrongfull death, false arrest and/or suppression of evidence claims .   And if the claims exceed the average of similar police forces elswhere ... why they just pay the premium increase -- "no one notices".

Sometimes departments get re-organized:  VIDE: Ramparts Division,  LAPD.

But 'individual responsibility' for either offending officers or their immediate supervisors ?

"We  wouldn't want to see another 'rule book slowdown, much less a full blown police strike, would we, now?"
