  •  The same paragraph from NY Times that I.. (21+ / 0-)

...posted in Onomastic's diary on this:

“The sheer number of bullets and the way they were scattered all over his body showed this police officer had a brazen disregard for the very people he was supposed to protect in that community,” Mr. Crump said. “We want to make sure people understand what this case is about: This case is about a police officer executing a young unarmed man in broad daylight.”

    •  I'm guessing a "temporary insanity" defense. (1+ / 0-)

The ballistics may show that the fatal shot to the eye was at a downward angle, which would confirm that Brown was on his knees.  But, in any case, given the number of shots, I'm guessing a "temporary insanity" defense.  I don't think there's any way Brown was "charging" the officer.  Sure, all unarmed people rush a shooting gun, right?  Won't fly.

In any case, I never had any doubt the officer would be acquitted.  With the police-friendly prosecutor presenting his "case" to a Grand Jury (i.e. in secret), plenty of chance to bungle it there.  And, even if there is an indictment, it only takes one racist on the jury to insure against conviction.  And none of the "law and order" politicians--from either party--will push it or question an acquittal.

      No justice, no peace.
