  •  The Syrian revolution was peaceful for months (4+ / 0-)

even after the military began killing people. But the Syrians did not fold up and hide and go back to the old system. Which seems to be what Americans do every time the images of these kinds of atrocities here fade.
The fighting in Syria got bad when militants and zealots joined in and brought their guns with them.

    •  Because "AMERICANS" Are Not Under Attack. (1+ / 1-)

A few ghetto Blacks are under attack. It's very difficult to overstate just how few.

America is not a country where large masses of mainstream people feel under an authoritarian boot, and so feel broad camaraderie with one another against an oppressive state.

The numbers involved here are so tiny they're negligible.

When the 63 March on Washington happened, it was put together by thousands of not individuals, but thousands of organizations of many kinds all across the country.

And even that vast operation was viewed by the populace as a minority event; Blacks were under 15% of the population then more or less.

Americans are under economic and political attack but it's slow, below the radar and nonviolent virtually everywhere. THere isn't an example anywhere in history of what's happening to AMerica, first, because there's never been a large comfortable middle class anywhere any time in history before the mid 20th century. ANd there's never been a superpower where such a middle class was dismantled and had their country taken away from them.

There's no model for this, it's not comparable to Syria or Arab Spring or the European conquest of Natives, the Soviet or French revolutions, really nothing.

It's not surprising that no crystalizing figure or movement has come to the fore with a plan.

      •  HR'd for the LIE. This is about a few "ghetto (0+ / 0-)

blacks"?  In readng the entire post, you might have meant that differently than it reads and if explained, I'll remove my HR.  But that paragraph has got to be one of the worst I've read in all my reading on this.

    •  Its fascinating to me (0+ / 0-)

that the far left is clearly anti-war unless its against their own government.

      •  LOL. Yes, because the left has been advocating (0+ / 0-)

a race war for years, right?  Sorry, you have the wrong group tagged.  That would be the far right that's been training and planning for it for decades.  The left is appalled that the Ferguson PD has done everything in its power to turn this situation into a mini war.

Oh wait.  One poster said something really stupid suggesting we should turn this into our Arab Spring and comparing it to Syria and a dozen people rec'd it. So yeah, I guess you must be right.  The entire "far left" wants to go to war with our government.

Do you feel as stupid as you sound?

I'll freely admit I should have said "some on the left". I'm usually careful about what I say. But, having been here 10 years, I think I'm on fair ground when I say some on the left would love a war against our own government.

I don't think that warrants an ugly personal attack from you. Your dickish attack not appreciated. But, I'm sure you'll get at least a few recs for it.
