arrested like they are in any case like this. Instead they're walking free. Arresting the responsible officer would shut the protests down in a minute. But they can't even do that, because how could a white cop ever be guilty of shooting an unarmed black man?

He's effectively under house arrest.  So this rioting is all about not seeing a perp walk on TV?

When the evidence is developed to charge him with a crime, that's when he'll be arrested.  Despite what all the TV-show detectives on this thread are saying, the evidence might not be quite as unambiguous as you think.

      •  "Effectively under house arrest"? (3+ / 0-)

You mean scared to go out? The police have taken no action against him to my knowledge. Being arrested is not the same as "Effectively under house arrest." Being arrested means they've started the formal process of charging the officer and bringing a case against him. That has not happened to my knowledge.

He's out of town, probably out of state, possibly out of the country.

They  can't find him TO arrest him - and (IMHO) they're not going to try.

          If it's
          Not your body,
          Then it's
          Not your choice
          And it's
          None of your damn business!

He and his partner have not not been seen at home by neighbors since the incident. Other police officers are watching the house. Someone came by to pick up their dogs.

They're both gone. They could be in St Louis. They could be in Hawaii. We have no idea.

Where do you get this "house arrest" idea?

Words have meaning, and "house arrest" is usually defined along these terms:

confinement at home:a form of legal confinement in which people who have been arrested are not allowed to leave their own homes
Sometimes, it's broadened with the use of an ankle bracelet.
We have no evidence one of those has been ordered by a judge. But there's no reason to think so.

        So, nope. Not seeing it.
