  •  I'm not saying that discussion of Ferguson should (0+ / 0-)

end, but we are/will witness the typical disservice which always plays out with  media's intense, laser like focus and the subsequent "forgetting" that ALWAYS ensues.

I am sick and tied of a news story consuming the entire news cycle for some period of time for everyone to "share their views", express their outrage, etc etc; only to drop it when the next sexy tidbit of news comes along.

It's not just the media, it is us as a nation. Once we have our cathartic release we move on, yet not a god damn thing has changed!

A slow boil is how to tackle our problems, slow persistent, ongoing. How is it we now live in a 24 hour news cycle, yet the average number of topics in a news show is less than before? More is not better if it's not actually more but just a replication ad-nauseum (pardon me while I go puke).

    •  The community perceives this as life and death. (0+ / 0-)

As in, if this does not stop, now, they are going to face the worsening Gazafication of segments of St. Louis, and by extension, many, many places in our country.

The only way to make a point that grave and deep is to say, we are not going to stop, because this is a life and death situation. It is, in the words of NR, when the want to use the Latin, existential.

And I agree. This is an existential threat, to Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of Speech, as well as the Freedom from being required to House Military in your home, broadly defined.

I have seen enough in my long life to know the people of Ferguson are right. This is existential, for the freedoms we have fought and died for since 1776. There can be no backing away from the issues which the public there did not start, but which they intend to get heard, for the first time in a long, long, long time. When the American people understand that, there will be a decrease in the anger and a move to solutions. At the moment, our ADHD is kicking in, and that means they cannot stop.
