  •  It seems many are blaming media for more tension (12+ / 0-)

What did Captain Johnson say?  "Glamorizing" the violent protesters?  But I think this is basically what the media does all the time.  They "glamorize" house fires, shootings, car wrecks-- otherwise known "if it bleeds it leads."  So now that there are angry blacks expressing their anger the media is supposed to go away?  I don't buy that.

I notice how quickly CNN and other networks have rushed to cover wars in Iraq that apparently "glamorize" the violence of the American military, "encouraging" them to launch more missiles and drop more bombs.  But covering protests in Ferguson-- that's going too far.

It doesn't matter who the media are-- CNN or someone with a smartphone-- it's their right and responsibility to cover anything and everything they see in Ferguson.  And the more violent forms of outrage are also appropriate to cover, at any time of the day or night.

I think major media has an obligation to cover what's going on in Ferguson.

If bloggers, tweeters and livestreamers want to stay home, that's one thing. They're putting themselves on the line and don't have resources (like legal teams) behind them.

But it's my opinion that the MSM absolutely should be there. This is major protesting (and some rioting) in America over racial inequality. We give the networks access to the airways in exchange for being the People's press as guaranteed under the First Amendment.

They better be reporting on such a major event. If conservatives don't like it, they can change the channel, not buy that newspaper, or not load that website.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

The other night... Maybe he should buy a clue and realize that police acting like a deranged, fascist, scumbags has done nothing to calm tensions. As Wesley Lowry and other members of the reporters have said, "If they're willing to treat members of the working, national media like that, imagine what they're doing off camera to members of the community.

... then he should tell his trigger-happy cadres of jackboots to Stand the F*** Down.

Oh, wait.  They're not his.  He's just the designated spokesman for the PoPo.

If your sole and entire rationale for doing something is "It's not illegal." then perhaps you should rethink doing it.
