  •  Very informative diary (11+ / 0-)

My spouse and I are thinking of replacing our 12 year old car. We'll definitely be keeping this information in mind if/when we look for a new one. Unfortunately, we currently live in an area (suburb) where a car is a requisite. We're also considering moving to an area where shops, restaurants, a pharmacy and a grocery store are all within walking distance of where we would live.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for information coming out of the U. N. Climate Summit.

    Nice job, Agathena!

    •  Thank you. I live downtown in a small town (11+ / 0-)

I love it. Everything is in walking distance, or a short bus ride away. I used to go around town on my bike but there are too many hills around here.

In North America more and more people are moving to the city. It's one of the factors that led to the decline in driving cars.

Where I live some condos have built in Car Share instead of underground garages. Imagine how much cheaper those are to build. We are on a rock and so those deep garages usual require blasting.

When I have family visit from out of town, we have a great selection of moderately priced restaurants around. besides deli's. I never have to cook for them, I can just spend time hanging out like everyone else.
