  •  In memory of Alan G (33+ / 0-)

Alan G was a live-long Cubs fan and passed away right before the start of the 2014 season.  I had known Alan for about 10 years from when I worked with his wife on the Kerry Campaign.  He was a quiet man, semi political and a hugh Cubs fan.  We had talked in the past of the 1969 season when my Mets beat his Cubs.  Having grown up in Chicago, Alan and his wife, Marj, would go at least twice to Chicago on the pretext of visiting family but really to attend Cubs games and they would also attend games here when the Cubs played the Mets. He hated the current owners and what they were doing to his beloved Cubs.

When Alan passed away, his family had his ashes spread at Wrigley Field, hoping that the Cubs would have a winning season but it doesn't look like that can happen under current ownership which cares nothing about the team except their profits.

Message to Alan, kick their butts.

Never be afraid to voice your opinion and fight for it . Corporations aren't people, they're Republicans (Rev Al Sharpton 10/7/2011) Voting is a louder voice than a bullhorn but sometimes you need that bullhorn to retain your vote.

RIP to your friend.  But I'm almost glad he missed this debacle, just as I'm almost glad Steve Goodman missed the collapse in 1984....

      Almost.

one of those '84 games against the Padres.

Arlo said that the tour was originally supposed to be him and Steve -- that they had talked about it over the years and never done it, but this time they were working out the details to make it happen ... and then Steve got too sick.

That would have been my only chance to see him perform ...

To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.
