    U.S. history bears that out. OTOH, this is quite unlike the civil rights actions of the '60s. Then, there was no internet. Travel was much harder and more expensive. There were few African-Americans in elected positions (think Antonio French) and fewer with a decent education.

    That progress has been, IMHO, halted by the GOP's use of its racist, hateful Southern Strategy following the passage of the Civil Rights act. Clearly, that's not going to be undone overnight. Sadly, it may take a generation (or more :(.

    But demographics are on our side now, and there will be change (the only constant). I strongly believe we must participate to direct that change toward justice.

    We must never give up.

    My point of view is different because I am white. But I am also old, was part of those actions in the '60s, and was physically punished in a red state for my participation.

    (I hope this is not offensive, because I cannot walk in your shoes, but I've been putting of making this comment for a good while. Please do not despair. All the best to you and yours.)
