  •  Why print "Plame" (4.00)
if it was just her maiden name, with no other significance?
    •  I was trying to make that point. (none)
      Sloppy wording I guess.
    •  Agreed (none)
find me one other story where a reported prints a persons maiden name for no reason.

The passion of the press to replace truth with "balance" has negated both.

      •  Exactly (none)
        That is the entire point.

Either someone goofed and let out the name by mistake form classified docs (which is still a crime)... or was intentionally trying to burn Plame out of the CIA and/or the work she and the CPD where doing which is OUTRIGHT treason (literally).

        cheers,

        Mitch Gore

      •  I concur (none)
If Novak had called her "Valerie Plame Wilson" or "the former Valerie Plame" that would vaguely make sense (sort of like "Sandra Day O'Connor" or "Ruth Bader Ginsburg"). But he didn't, which clearly indicates to me that he knew what he was doing.
        •  I have the feeling (none)
that Fitzgerald is way ahead of us on this one and he will drop the bomb on all this when the case develops more.

The passion of the press to replace truth with "balance" has negated both.

          •  there used to be a profession called (none)
"kremlinology" which was practised by kremlinologists.  if we hadn't been poised on the brink of nuclear anhilation at the time, it might not have caught on as it did.

it was all very nuanced and opaque, but the invariable drawback to it was that anything that was heard and reported was not true (probably,) and was utterly untrustworthy.

"this isn't russia, is it danny?"

            "no, sir."

            "good."

he that hath no stomach to this fight let him depart
