    of existing settlements; it just means they won't build new ones.

    "Settlement freezes" are no such thing. The only way to "freeze" the settlements is to stop the settlers from reproducing. (The state does the exact opposite, encouraging the ultra-Orthodox to have more babies by heavily subsidizing them; and until this year, ultra-Orthodox men were exempt from serving in the IDF).

    No matter what Zionism's apologists may say, the land grab continues.

    If Israel tried to tear down the settlements, the government would fall. And the IDF's loyalty would be up for grabs. There would be a civil war and chances are Israel would end up either with a military dictatorship or an authoritarian regime run by the settlers.

    Absent something like a massive international BDS campaign, which would force a DeKlerk-like faction to come to the bargaining table to stave off economic collapse, there is no way the internal Israeli political process can end the Occupation.
