He's the one who forced Congress to design a law that coerces states by reducing the old subsidies. Isn't that the narrative, now that they've figured out that defending their refusal won't work well?

I also have to wonder how many states that joined the SCOTUS case did so thinking (hoping) they'd lose -- that they could score the political points by filing it, and then when they lost, reap the benefits of implementing it but score more political points by insisting to their base, "We're being strong-armed by that mean nasty Muslim socialist into expanding Medicaid, and we've tried every way out of it, so don't blame us for doing it." But no, they won in the Court, and forgot to leave themselves an escape route.

The Republican and Tea Party nitwits who have been ginning up the anti-Obamacare dog and pony show have no one but themselves to blame. Not take money from the evil Washington bureaucracy? Well, you take  federal highway money, I'll bet. Military base in your state? Those dollars come from Washington. Federal dollars for navigable waterways? Major airports? All those things get federal support, but no one's carping about how unreliable the funding stream is for those functions. It's just this - access to health care for people who wouldn't otherwise have it - that sticks in the Republican craw, because it does something good for ordinary people, and we can't countenance THAT.
