someone, is there any other provision of law that you know of that would prevent them from simply nominating Orman?

Anyone arguing that there's no difference between the parties is a fucking moron who can simply go to hell. -- kos

    •  I think this is the important question of the hour (0+ / 0-)

Can the Dems nominate Orman and put him on the Dem line as well as the Indie line?

      •  No, they cannot. (12+ / 0-)

If the state meeting were to be held, and IF there was a quorum (to big questions right now and I won't get into those directly on a blog)  then..

Anyone could stand for a nomination, however, if a quorum is met and a state party member motions for adjournment and manages to get a bulk vote of adjournment before there is a nomination, then per the by laws, the meeting would adjourn and no one would be forwarded.

IF, however, someone was forwarded before an adjournment motion could be made, the floor would be open for as many nominations as possible, and failure to achieve a valid vote total would delay certification potentially beyond the 20th (cutoff for military ballots) or the 25 (end cutoff)

If multiple nominations are present, then the process could move into a staged vote within the state committee, at which point committee members would be free to open debate on the nominations..

Ugh, I could go on about the rules for a while, but hopefully this gives you an idea of how this would work

      •  That would tie Orman to national Dems (6+ / 0-)

He'd lose crossover votes that way, and that'd probably end his chances of actually beating Roberts.

        Orman should stay independent.

Now located in the greatest city in the world! On 9/9, vote John Liu in SD-11 and S.J. Jung in SD-16, and let's get back the NY State Senate!
