  •  Dude, chill. No need to panic. (0+ / 0-)

I didn't say no one would be allowed to grow and process their own tobacco. Just ban sale of tobacco. Given that there are E-cigarettes, a perfectly good substitute, there really is every reason to finally stamp out tobacco once and for all. With E-cigs, we have the opportunity.

You cannot possibly be comparing marijuana to tobacco, can you? If marijuana was even a tenth as lethal as tobacco, there would be a strong argument for it remaining illegal, but marijuana isn't physically harmful or addictive. Tobacco is both and it is ENORMOUSLY destructive of human health and hugely expensive to society. Why wouldn't we want to give addicts a really strong push to switch to a safer alternative?

You know, making certain things illegal is sometimes OK. I don't know if you are aware of that. Sometimes prohibition does work if the purpose is to steer people in a better direction. So, maybe think about this for a while before typing and let me know if - after reflecting on the ramifications for a day or so - you've changed your thinking.

Voting is the means by which the public is distracted from the realities of power and its exercise.
