  •  In partial agreement ... (none)
Would Minamyer have backed off if not so agressively challenged and if not provided 'proof' in response to his 'questions'?  No, I don't think so.

Responding forcefully to his challenge -- in decibels, by outraged veterans (check OH-2), and with facts -- made this a non-viable gambit.  There are likely a mixing of reasons for Minamyer backing down -- but, again, I give him credit for engaging in debate on OH-2 and for admitting that it was proved that he got it wrong.  If all the "Repug" activity were like Minamyer, it seems to me, politics in this nation would be in a far better environment.  Engaging in conversation, responding to challenges, backing off when faced with evidence, etc ... Again, how often has BushCo allowed facts to get in the way of what they want to do?

"Eric Minamyer is an opportunist looking to trade up in the ethics free zone that the Ohio Republican Party has become" -- I don't know enough about Ohio politics / Minamyer to judge this.  You might be 100% right on that, which would weaken any 'credit' he merits.
