  •  Cindy - You are a flip flopper (none)
So says Drudge (and echoing in the Noise machine): expect questions on this soon.

    •  Just read Drudge... (none)
I'd like to see a link to the original news story, but if the link can be produced, Cindy should explain why her story has changed so dramatically.  It's a fair question as to why her depiction of the meeting has changed.  I'm sure that won't be a popular question, but it is fair.
      •  Link (none)
Here is a link, sort of. You need to pay a fee to read the whole thing. Story is titled "Bush, Sheehans Share Moments".

      •  Am I to understand....? (none)
that your questioning of Cindy's bona fides is because of something from DRUDGE?

Just in case, I think I'll prepare a recipe, in case one needs to be posted.

        •  Prepare.. (none)
Cindy should prepare for the questions that'll come her way. You and I might not read Drudge, when FNC starts running with it, the rest will follow.
        •  Not exactly. (none)
What I said was- if the quotes in the newspaper article Drudge cites turn out to be true, then it's a fair question to ask her as to why her characterization of the meeting has changed.  That doesn't change anything since, and it seems to me her position is strong enough without needing to change her story about the meeting, if her story has changed.
        •  So as not to be misunderstood.... (none)
my question should have been directed to bam101.  My apologies to others.

WE are the "foreign fighters" in Iraq !!!

        •  C'mon now (none)
I don't think a recipe (or the threat of) is appropriate. Bam was just expressing an opinion, not attacking or baiting anyone. Save your recipes for the real trolls. Now if you happen to have some tasty vegetarian recipes, I wouldn't mind you shooting them over to me :)
    •  I just looked at The Reporter's archives online (none)
There's no article on June 24 that contains Cindy Sheehan's name. In fact, there's not even one that's remotely close.

Check for yourselves. Go to the bottom and search the archives with her name and the year (2004). Nothing doing.

      •  You're right. (none)
There is no article on June 24.  But there is one on May 24, although, as I posted in another diary, it doesn't come up in the archives search every time.

The bigger issue is- it's not a good strategy to argue that the article doesn't exist, because if/when it appears conclusively, then you've been arguing the wrong point.

          Bush, Sheehans share moments

          Author:    David Henson/Staff Writer
          Article ID: 2232714
          Date: June 24, 2004
          Publication: Reporter, The (Vacaville, CA)

Since learning in April that their son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, had been killed in Iraq, life has been everything but normal for the Sheehan family of Vacaville.

Casey's parents, Cindy and Patrick, as well as their three children, have attended event after event honoring the soldier both locally and abroad, received countless letters of support and fielded questions from reporters across the country.

"That's the way our whole lives have been since April 4," Patrick

I'm glad I can eat my words.

      •  THANK YOU, Fighter-dude.... (none)
        The Defense rests.

We should, I think, maintain tin-hat suspension-of-belief about anything that appears or Drudge, whether assertions or links.

The Opposition's spin-doctors are, I am reasonably sure, maintaining close watch on this story. It is a serious "problem" for them, and they know it, I suspect.

[Personal-but-related message]: YOU'RE BUSTED AGAIN, TURD-BLOSSOM (or his minion - Jeffy Gannon, you sweet thang, is that you out there?)! Call Drudge and try again - we'll bust your sorry ass again, OK?

    •  Links to Reporter articles inoperative (none)
On Casey's Peace Page I clicked on links to two articles in the Vacaville Reporter entitled "Family Voices frustration*new*08/07/04" and "Sheehans meet with President Bush " and got only a blank page.

To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work. Mary Oliver

    •  Cindy Sheehan = America's Mom (none)
Give this story one more week and we'll "find out" from a Drudge "exclusive" that Casey Sheehan was actually an Iraqi spy and Saddam loyalist who went to Iraq to kill Americans -- all in the name of making enough money to contribute to Michael Moore and MoveOn.org.

They went after Max Cleland, a man who lost three limbs on the battlefield in Vietnam.

They went after John Kerry, a man who won five medals in Vietnam.

They went after John McCain, a man who spent five years in a POW camp while Bush was out binge-drinking and snorting. . . well, you know.

They went after Joe Wilson, a man who spent more than two decades of his life in foreign service and risked his life for his country.

They went after Valerie Plame, whose life is likely still at risk today as a result of Rove and Libby.

They went after Richard Clarke, who had the audacity to actually apologize to the 9/11 families for failing to stop the attacks.

      They're going after Cindy Sheehan.

And they'll go after Casey, too. You just watch.

They have no shame. They have no honor. They have no honesty. They have no decency. They are greedy, lying political animals who would happily crap on Martin Luther King's grave if they thought it would help them win a mayor's race in Podunk, Georgia.

      •  They went after Paul Hackett too (none)
"Staff puke" Rush Limbaugh called him.  Said he only went to Iraq to "build his resume."

Said he lied about being in combat (soundly refuted).  It went on and on.

There is no one they won't try to destroy if they need to.

        •  You know, these black-hearted bastards... (none)
ought to start havin' 30 Minute Hates in the White House every day.

I think it'd help `em ... ta' concentrate on their "mission," don't you see?  They c'd gather in the gym or somewhere and stand around in a circle and hold their breaths, and get their eyes all a-blazin, and their hands all doubled up into fists and just HATE, HATE, HATE us Liberals. I'd love to see Cheney, with the veins in his neck all swelled up...  Why, the negative energy would just radiate in that room...

True, it'd look kinda' like Monty Python, but hey, what doesn't these days, huh?

Maybe they could get Rush to come in and lead the Daily Hates, Rush'd do it - all the other Hatemongers would have to do would be to kick in an' slip him a little Oxy now and then.  He'd  do it - he's a serious hater.

It'd be positively Orwellian, don't you think?

He may not be a dictator, but he sure does love to ... um, dictate.
