  •  I want one! (4.00)
Are you selling these?  Can we get these made?  Profits to help Cindy, or another peace group?  I love this - the new MIA bracelet.  I still have mine from the Vietnam days.  My soldier never came home.

"But your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore"--Prine Pay attention Georgie - 1800 dead Americans, 100,000+ dead Iraqis, all on your head. WWJS?

    •  I don't want to be exploitive (4.00)
I'd like find some way to make them and distribute them in a helpful, non-exploitive way, but I'm not really coming up with good ideas.

I mean, yes, I could sell them and donate the proceeds, but there's no way to offer any proof or accountability that I'm not just abscoding with the cash, and I'd rather not even run the risk of the appearance of impropriety.

My thought was that I could make a bunch and send them to the Crawford Peace House and let them do what they want with them (e.g., "sell" them for donations or whatnot), but I have a feeling they're probably entirely too busy to deal with such trivialities.

Any ideas would be welcome, though.

    •  Want a bracelet too.. (none)

I want one too. I am still wearing my Vietnam-era bracelet (Hubby replaced the steel one with a gold ID bracelet about 4 years ago, saying Jimmy {my POW} deserved the best). This is my 4th, (cuz the other 3 came home, yeah!). Still waiting for Jimmy, tho...

Lemme know where to send $ for the bracelet.

PS, I also make jewelry, if you need help with unexpected demand...

      •  Working on an idea (4.00)
        I am thinking:

Jewelry-making session at some central location in Chicago sometime soon.

People come to learn an interesting hobby, and we create plenty of "Casey's" to generate donations. (The design is about as basic as it gets when it comes to skills: stringing, crimping, attaching a clasp.)

Maybe I could even get the local bead shop where I get the beads and charms to sponsor.

          To continue the thought:

Post the directions so we're all making the same Casey Bracelet.

Hold jewelry-making sessions all over America, especially for those who want to do something, but can't get to Crawford.

I'm willing to try and get one set up here, if that helps.

Just thinking aloud (as it were)...

    •  OK (none)
I'm going to go the total transparency route and see how it goes.

I have a site set up (a blogspot blog I wasn't particularly using) for documenting all expenses, orders, and payments made to Gold Star Familes for Peace and Crawford Peace House.

The details are posted there, and I'll put together a diary tomorrow night.
