  •  How is it good for Dean ... (none)
    To have Clark knocked out?

Clark supporters on blogs are almost certainly not a typical example - I expect a good many real-world Clark supporters will go to Kerry (the other vet) if Clark is out.

Before the primaries began, it was always going to be Kerry v Dean. All the other candidates are just background noise.

As much as I find quirky virtues in Clark and Edwards, they are no more important than Carol Mosley-Braun. The Democratic primaries are not about which smart, experieced white guy has the cleanest hands.

It is a major struggle for power between to opposing -- and only partly overlapping factions --that will paricipate in the elections.  Kerry is one wing, Dean the other.

If you don't get that, it's like going to a baseball game and not undertanding the rules or what's involved.

This is not a struggle for the nomination. It's about  power of the direction of the party.

It will be Kerry, by a lopsided margin.

That is almost a perfect expression of why Dean became marginalized. Very few Dem voters are interested in "the direction of the party," except insofar as it leads back to the White House.

So Dean will get the votes of people who mainly want a transformed Democratic Party, while Kerry will get the votes of people who mainly want a Democratic President.

Sorry, but that is a very one-sided contest.
