Even though it may not get printed (not every one does), think of it as influencing people and doing what you can and making a difference.

(And, if it doesn't get printed don't stop writing LTE's, look at it as improving/further developing your writing style.)

    •  1 of 10 LTE's printed (4.00)
Just keep writing them even if not many are published.  Our local Tribune-owned paper, the Baltimore Sun, uses the number of letters on a subject to decide what to print.  Then they'll pick a few from "each side" and run them.  Unfortunately this gives voice to the Bushites, but those Kool-Aid drinkers often look bad in print, their arguments are weak and mostly consist of "support our grand leader" type ranting.

I have written LTE's stating facts and and the rebuttals to a couple of mine have been absolutely hilarious. I'm referring to a county daily--there has been an ongoing lte battle for awhile.  There have also been a few insults tossed out at every liberal who has an lte published.  I wonder if these people realize how stupid they look.

Funny thing, I have recognized a few paragraphs from lte's that I have written that were not published appear in one of the writer's columns.  Swear to God!

    •  Ask a like-minded friend (4.00)
Then don't stop at writing a LTE yourself - ask your like-minded friends to write one also.  Make them short and to the point.  If a paper gets several LTE's on the same point, the chance of at least one on that point getting published increases.
