  •  Have the parts of NO that havent flooded (none)
as badly (French Quarter, etc) been evacuated? All I can find are reports from this morning about tourists etc feeling lucky theyd been spared...

Ive never been there a way for these people to evacuate still?

It just seems like the people remaining must not have anywhere near the clue that we have - safe in front of our computers - about THEIR safety.

    •  According to earlier reports, (none)
these people are cut-off from communications.  No way to get information, electricity, food, etc., etc.
    •  People still trapped (none)
People in the French Quarter are still trapped, no way out. Not sure how they are supposed to evacuate and escape the flood that is expected.
      •  Word (none)
Has anyone heard from the Quarter?  I have been worried sick about Gracie and the rest of the Decatur street folks.  Gracie told me during Ivan that she would never evacuate - "because I was born and raised in this Quarter" - so I am sure she is still there.

      •  They could just walk onto the levee (none)
I suppose they'd need to be ferried over the occasional side channel but that could be arranged with a few boat each. Boats could also carry them up the river if the river isn't blocked (Plaquemines county [the delta] says no river traffic allowed, so I assume there's an obstacle there)
