      on the environment and how these assclowns are contributing to its damage has been the most powerful I've read over the last few months. There is a controlled but seething anger to everything he writes, and his points come through loud and clear. Hope the info about Barbour gets some attention - particularly in Mississippi.

        RFKj's entry is emotional, but it's not terribly factual.

        Passing Kyoto on the day Bush took office would not have made one wit of diffefence.  Unfortunately the way it is designed is that any changes are backloaded away from the present to the end goal, around 2012.  

        Even then, if climate change is to blame of Katrina, reducing emissions to 1990's levels would hardly be a blip at all.  It's basically a single digit decrease.  Even after a few years it's not a big change.

        It's not that his sentiment is wrong, it's just not really accurate to suggest that Katrina would have been more mild if Kyoto had been made law.
