  •  The neocons are always worried... (4.00)
    ...about America looking weak.

If this embarrassing display doesn't make us look weak I don't know what does. I'll frankly be amazed if every terrorist in the freakin' world doesn't land on our asses after they see how weak-minded our "leadership" is.

    •  Oh, they're (none)
gonna blame it on the whiny liberals with all that whining about a few folks down south that got themselves stuck in a flood....
      •  there is such utter (4.00)
contempt for poor people in general and poor minorities specifically.  There is a significant portion of this nation that does not care if poor people die because they are poor.

This is not news, obviously - look at the health care situation - but it is so glaringly obvious in this case that it feels like a scab has been ripped off the oozing undergut of the United States.

You are poor?  Die.  And these bastards have the gall to whine about 'politicizing' the issue?  Yeah, policy in a rich country that does nothing to prevent poor people from dying from poverty is political.

        •  Class Warfare! (none)
That's it...thats what they are going to accuse us of.

The sad thing is, to BushCo, 99 percent of us are the "other" or "poor"...we just don't count other as clogs in the wheel.

The people in this country had better wake up and understand this...

          •  whenever the (none)
glaring problems of capitalism become clear, they scream "class warfare".

We shouldn't run from that charge.  We didn't declare the war, the privileged did.  And unlike Iraq, they are actually a threat.

People point out that Europeans pay more for gasoline.  Yeah, and they get national health care AND a public transportation system.  Israel, which spends 1/2 it's budget on the army, manages to have an excellent bus system (a few obvious risks) along with national health care.

The privileged want to know the poor only when they need a war fought to further entrench their privilege.

And in case anyone thinks I'm a 20 year old wanna be neo-Trotsky-ite: I'm a 40 something homeschooling mom of two who's spouse is trying to run a small business.  A real radical one, too - a CPA firm.
