  •  Austin Food Bank was cookin' today (4.00)
Continuous lines of cars dropping off donations, pallets of supplies piling up in the parking lot, volunteers working hard.

They'll be open on Sat. from 9-4 for you Austin Kossacks.

I can't go until early next week - the wave will hit San Antonio soon too.

    •  it's gonna hit SA (none)
and keep going west, probably to the Pacific.
    •  Other opportunities in Austin as well (none)
The Centex Redcross is calling for volunteers to man the phones in 4 hour shifts. Contact Erin Whitworth:

American Red Cross of Central Texas, ewhitworth@centex.redcross.org.

Also there are donation barrels set up all over the city for Capital Area Food Bank, or direct donations can be made. They need bottled water, granola or cereal bars, peanut butter in plastic jars, tuna or canned meat in pull-ring containers, and diapers.

Refugees are currently being housed in the Tony Burger Center, but there is only so much space. If any one lives in the area and has temp. housing available for Katrina victims contact Brother Robert LeGros, CSC at St. Edwards University.

        (512) 448-8754 or e-mail robertl@admin.stedwards.edu.

      Thanks Centex Kossacks
