Did "My Goat 2, the sequel" come out this week, and is this the cause for bushes delay?
    •  Yes-- (4.00)
It was called, "Meet Katrina, My Pet Goat"

    •  Seems that way (4.00)
This whole affair is murderous and inexcusable. If anyone can find another on-line link please post.

The DU'er that posted this is looking for help to get it on-line. Maybe someone here can offer assistance? I'm afraid I'm not able to help with this techie stuff. :o(

      •  A Concerted Effort to Withhold Help (none)
Others have talked about the Red Cross being told to stay away, and I know that Northwest Medical Teams was also told by FEMA to stay away until Friday.  NWMT is very frustrated because they were ready to be on the ground MONDAY, the day Katrina hit.

So the question is: Why was there a concerted effort on the part of the federal government to withhold help from the victims?

      •  Terre, great find, again... (none)
... I should just keep a text file of this comment so I can use it every time you come up with one of these diaries.

There are some of us trying to get this poster passed around... Kos front-paged the first version of it before I could get a better file for the photo... here is the much clearer version.

Copy this image to use on your websites, blogs, wherever else you can get away with. Go here for PDF page-sized print versions to print and leave in your favorite conspicuous public place of choice. Thanks to by foot for the bandwidth!

    •  Actually, good point (none)
Did Bush wait those 7 minutes on 911 before he acted (a) deliberately for maximum effect, (b) because he was stupid and didn't get it, and I won't put a "c" because we know he was not in charge...

But my god, on vacation, the northern command ready, I hope this stuff gets out.

      •  WHERE IS CHENEY ? (4.00)
Wasn't Cheney in charge on 9/11 according to some reports ?

        WHERE IS CHENEY ?

        •  Supposedly in Wyoming (none)
but I think he's been in and out, despite reports of his agents in local stores in JAckson Wyoming, because my house (more than 150 miles east) is on his flight path and I've seen choppers going back and forth for 2 weeks.

"supposed" to return to DC Sunday.

          •  This is very interesting (none)
because a Cheney spokesperson was quoted in a national story saying that Cheney "returned" to DC on Thursday. I smell a big stinking cover up. Dr. Kate, if you are a Dr. who lives in Jackson, I don't want you to get in trouble with confidential issues for drs. on staff at the hospital, BUT, have you heard any scuttle-but about Cheney's health around town? Is he staying in Jackson? Is he staying somewhere else in Wyoming?  I know, up to this Chrismas, he was renting a multi millionare dollar home in Jackson for getaways (my mother saw him in church Xmas eve).  Any info you can share is important. The MSM is ignoring this story.
            •  Not that kind of doctor (none)
and east of Jackson.  He doesn't go locally to get any health stuff...he has his own staff with him all the time....

He is regularly in Jackson....not sure but this is where I think he's planning his shadow government.  And the timing of his return to Dc--if it was thursday would correspond to the helos I talked about above.  Also, the final decision to let the aid flow into new orleans....

        •  You can bet on this: (4.00)
Cheney is working with oil industry to address infrastructure/distribution issues.

    •  No it was music (4.00)
The president's new "goatar". He was petting it, er, I mean strumming it while New Orleans drowned.
    •  consistent with their philosophy (4.00)
They want people to understand, once and for all, that they cannot rely on the Federal Government.  Local, regional, state authorities are supposed to take care of them.  With the aid of private charities, mainly religious in nature.

That is also the point of their current defense: it's the mayor's fault; it's the governor's fault.

      •  O'Reilly said as much last night (4.00)
paraphrasing his talking point:  "You can't depend on the government. You have to depend on yourself."  (But let's see what he can do for himself after a tsunami!)

Of course, in the earthquake country I live in, we are prepared to be self-sufficient for a few days before systems are in place to help us. We've always got extra water, emergency food and rice, camping stoves, flashlights near the beds, a battery-operated radio.

        •  All that stuff is extremly useful.... (none)
UNLESS the earthquake wrecks your house and the emergency supplies are destroyed...or In NO and Miss. under flood waters.

And waht an incredibley cynical meme...we fucked up the goverment...now don't depend on it.

        •  O'Lielly will be happy... (none)

      •  I hope the message is clear (4.00)
It's not the Federal Government US citizens can't rely on, it's the Republicans!
    •  The Age of Incompetence (4.00)
My anger at the (in)action as people continue to die knows no bounds! The paperwork took to long to go through Federal channels, Bush didn't call the Nat'l Guard in himself or activate CRAF, and he stayed on vacation until it was too late. Condi went on vacation AFTER the disaster. Foreign aid was delayed entry into the US. Cheney is STILL on vacation. Head of FEMA has his job cause of his college roommate. Homeland Security can't do anything right. American Red Cross and Salvation Army are told to keep out. People are being forced to stay at the Convention Center and can't leave if they want to. And to top it off, Chimpy McDouchebag's visit to New Orleans grounded food drop helicopters. >:-O

      •  PAPERWORK?????? (none)
You have to do PAPERWORK to respond to a national emergency?  Dude, WHAT THE FUCK?

You depend on our protection! Yet you feed us lies from the tablecloth. La la la la la la la la la la la!
