  •  This explains what I (4.00)
kept asking myself on Tuesday and Wednesday, "why aren't there more boats rescuing people."  Always after a disaster we see ordinary citizens with  equipment and skills out helping and rescuing people.  Where were the boats?  I knew there were lots of boats in LA and MS and they couldn't have all been destroyed in the hurricane.  Never did it occur to me that our government would have stopped them from helping.  That would be appropriate if only a few people needed to rescued and the they had adequate resources to handle the rescues.

I'm reasonably sure that other people with boats that were ready, willing and able to help were also turned away.

This isn't negligence, this is murder.

What FDR giveth; GWB taketh away.

    •  Even today when I kept seeing the (4.00)
clips of helicopters tediously airlifting one person at a time, I was thinking why are they using boats and going methodically street by street? It would be easier to get close to each house or building and call out to see if anyone was inside. Surely by now, many people who are still alive are too weak to climb out and stand in the water in order to be rescued.
