  •  Stop the Smear & Blame squad's coverup (4.00)
Some of the bigger media whores are already back to the business as usual. Don't let them get away with it.

These [administration] officials said that Mr. Bush and his political aides rapidly changed course in what they acknowledged was a belated realization of the situation's political ramifications. As is common when this White House confronts a serious problem, management was quickly taken over by Mr. Rove and a group of associates including Mr. Bartlett. Neither man responded to requests for comment.
    .
White House advisers said that Mr. Bush expressed alarm after his return to Washington from the Gulf Coast.
    .
One senior White House official said that Mr. Bush appeared at a senior staff meeting in the Situation Room on Friday and called the results on the ground "unacceptable." At the encouragement of Mr. Bartlett, officials said, he repeated the comment later in the Rose Garden, the start of this campaign. (09/05/05 NYT / Nagourney & Kornblut)

What a disgusting collection of jackals, buzzards and hyenas.

And what an arrogant prancing imbecile they prop up as a Great Leader. Even with relief efforts running more smoothly at this stage, a phonecall from this self-absorbed prick could still mean the difference between life and death, between future misery and prosperity for thousands. And he's worried about which Leadership Codpiece to wear during his next costume jaunt. Culture of Life my everloving pink ass.

See also Talking Points Memo's tracking of the Smear'n'Blame ops here and especially here, where the Post and Newsweek dutifully get back to the job of indiscriminate asslicking -- which is of course the important thing during national tragedies.

(I hope this diary gets front-paged ASAP and KOSsacks stop this disgusting revisionism -- bad enough on a daily business but this coverup is over, literally, a mass grave.)

    •  It's Rove, As Usual (4.00)
Today's NYTimes has the story--this "blame the locals" shit is being run out out Rove's office.

As usual, Rove has their lackeys spin that "now is not the time for blame", while Rove provides anonymous source info on who's to blame (all lies) to the press, who cheerfully gobble the BS up.

Now is the time to attack these lying bastards and rip this wide open.

Who in the Democratic Party has the balls to go after them on this?

It may never be this easy again.
