    The belief that you may simply pick and choose which laws you will submit to, or which duties you may carry out as a public official, is anarchy, by the classic definition of that term.  That Republican judges, pharmacists, etc., are using this as their political philosophy is, to put it mildly, ironic.

    Recusal is ONLY to prevent the appearance of partiality or impartiality.  Otherwise, you have two choices: apply the law as it is written (or applied above you), or resign.  Any other decision is the act of a moral coward.  It's comparable, I think, to the protestor at a sit-in who is arrested for trespassing, and then doesn't want to serve the sentence.  Otherwise, there's not much point in democracy, or passing laws.
