  •  The dog thing is a huge issue (4.00)
I have a dog and she is a family member.  When I heard they weren't letting dogs into the Superdome, not even a seeing eye dog, I really felt for those people.  There is NO WAY I would leave my puppy in the house to die alone in a storm.  I feel bad when I leave her home alone for too many hours.

Its not easy being a Floridian.

    •  Future plans for evacuation and relief ... (none)
are going to have to take animals into consideration. People are getting more and more attached to their pets and will be unwilling to leave them. I can understand the problem with bringing animals into people shelters, but there should be designated animal shelters where pets could be identified, cared for, kept safe, and evacuated if necessary. Perhaps the ASPCA would have some interest in running such shelters in an emergency?
