    So not only did the cops not let the people escape N.O., they took their food and water.

    Now why was it they didn't want "those people" from N.O. to come to their parish...something about looting and robbery and lawlessness?

      Another word to add to the linguistic jumbo.

      Should reporters say that the sheriffs "confiscated" the survivors food and water?

      Or should they say the sheriffs "looted"?

      Or perhaps the sheriffs "found" the food and water?

      Where's the AP style guide when you need it...

        they had to confiscate the food and water because it might have been used to commit some horrible crime.

        This little sentence in the article makes my blood boil more than any other of it.  I do not  know how my blood can to continue to boil, most of should have evaporated away by now...
